Aria Pro II / TE-500N BACKAROO 1976 Used Electric Guitar. These are also becomingly increasingly rare, and will provide the new owner with years of enjoyment. Overall this is a superbly built, great playing vintage tele that has earned its patina. A couple clear coat chips (see pics) and plenty of wear over its 35 years, but nothing that effects playability and no cracks. The natural finish body on this tele is phenomenal. Three way pickup selector functions perfectly, jack is tight. I did shine the neck pickup which sounds fantastic and cleaned up the poles on the bridge pickups. The new owner can decide how much of this original patina to keep or shine up. The same factory was making almost exactly the same guitar in the mid seventies branded an Aria Backaroo or Greco TE-500, but both of those more visible brands will cost you almost double the listed price on this. I have cleaned the guitar, but haven't used any chemical solvents. These guitars were reportedly produced for the parent company behind Pearl Drums, and made at the famed Matsumoku plant in the mid 70s. The bridge, volume and tone knobs, and original vintage tuners have developed an incredible patina. This guitar was built in the legendary Matsumoku plant in Japan in 1976 and is Aria's take on a fender thinking telecaster, with aria wide range hum buckers and a simple three way toggle switch this guitar is build for versatility and simplicity and it just so. I love those names the Japanese versions of American guitars had - Backaroo, Breezy Sound, Reborn Old, etc. There is some clearcoat chipping running along the top of the fretboard (see pics). Here we have a stunning 1976 Aria Pro II Backaroo guitar in a stunning blonde finish. Thats pretty nice, a far cry from the Arias I remember in the 80s. The rosewood fretboard has superb fretwork with plenty of fret life remaining. Not sure if this is because fewer were made, or their owners are reluctant to part with them. The Aria Pro II Backaroo is a kind of brother guitar to the also excellent Greco Telecasters being made at Matsumoku at the same time, but they come up for sale much less often.
